Day 2
Report card on the second day of our new production-distribution arrangement (as detailed in Sunday's column and blog):
Production: Again, excellent. Stories and pages moving smoothly. No hiccups on the print side in Troy. A few minor problems with inserts.
Distribution: 100 percent improvement. Papers are in home delivery tubes and newsstands throughout the area as scheduled.
Now back to the important business of journalism, digital and print, as well as sales and marketing for the area's most complete daily source for information.

just a reminder, you did mention 58 positons now gone in your blog and sunday column. And day 1&2 no mention of those who now are now longer w/the company. watching the video on Ivan,s blog they did not look like they were happy to print the last copy the other day.
looking forward to your comments on the 58 positions and how your company is helping them get through the holiday season and the new year.
this will be my last comment on the 58 who are nolonger employed.

No one is happy about layoffs, whether it's 1 or 58. All employees were aware of their impending layoffs several months ago. All received severance, based on their length of service. All also were offered opportunities to participate in two different seminars on job relocation, resumes, unemployment insurance, etc.

just so you know, i was born and raised in NYS. My wife and I have sold our home and since retired to the state of Delaware in 2009. The taxes in NYS and Ulster County were just to much to cope with. You and I follow those issues w/thefreeman, and other local ulster blogs.
